We’re looking for a Linux Software Engineer
We’re looking for Linux engineers and developers with experience in Linux OS internals, kernels, drivers, and network stacks to help us continue to build and improve our next-generation consumer VPN service. We’ve got plenty of interesting work like enhancing our Lightway protocol, building a multi-threaded low level load balancer for network traffic on our servers and more. As a Linux Software Engineer you’ll join a team of like-minded people that are trying to deliver simple and specific systems and solutions for our internal engineering/operations teams and our customers. We build all kinds of cool stuff and continuously evolve our global VPN infrastructure. We use open source when we can (and support the community with upstream commits), and build when we need to.
What You’ll Do
- Build and improve (for speed, quality, or efficiency) systems and components that make up our global VPN infrastructure like:
- Improvements to our Lightway protocol
- High performance TUN drivers
- Contribute to our innovative RAM only server design and ensure we keep users privacy & security first-and-foremost
- Undertake spikes, prototyping and R&D work to investigate feasibility, de-risk complex projects and cut through uncertainty.
- Write clear and comprehensive tech designs and test plans, and ensure work is broken down into bite sized chunks and accurately sized.
To succeed in this role, we’d love for you to have experience in some or all of the following:
- Proven track record working in Rust, C/C++, Python or Golang.
- Proficiency with IP networking, including both low-level sockets programming and high-level application layer programming.
- Experience with platform-native networking internals on Linux (Ubuntu or Debian)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proven track record building and managing positive relationships with different stakeholders.
