  • Schedule/Day: Monday - Friday 9:30AM - 6:00PM
  • Hiring Bonus: $3,000
  • Population Served: 18 months - 65 years

Pacific Clinics serves children, transitional age youth, families, adults, and older adults. We offer a full range of mental and behavioral health services, foster care and social services, housing, continuing adult education and early childhood education programs to Medi-Cal eligible individuals and families throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Stockton, Tulare and Ventura Counties.  

Who We Serve:

Pacific Clinics' Neurodevelopmental Services program serves neurodivergent (e.g., autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, ADHD, trauma, etc.) children, transitional-age youth, adults, and families throughout San Bernardino and Riverside counties. We offer crisis stabilization services, educationally related mental health services, play therapy, neurofeedback, Safe and Sound Protocol, EMDR, and other developmentally appropriate services.

JOB SUMMARY

Works within the agency and program’s vision, mission and philosophy, and policies of the agency in partnership with the Neurodevelopmental Services (NDS) leadership team. The Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapist provides trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming counselling services in a private pay center. This position works directly with neurodivergent children, adolescents, adults and/or their caregivers utilizing an integrative approach, including relational neurobiology and provides therapeutic support in navigating the complex intersections of client identities, experiences and traumas.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

  1. Develops and implements collaborative, strength-based treatment plans with neurobiologically informed clinical interventions.
  2. Conducts trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming clinical assessments.
  3. Utilizes an integrative approach to counseling, including relational neurobiology.
  4. Provides culturally humble care that respects the unique experiences of clients from diverse backgrounds.
  5. Assists with marketing and networking to support building and maintaining client caseloads.
  6. Responsible for meeting revenue and productivity goals, ensuring consistency in service delivery expectation (e.g., documentation, program policies & procedures), programming (effective treatment fidelity), and outcomes across NDS services.
  7. Maintains an attuned, compassionate, and resilient approach to work with neurodivergent individuals and their families.
  8. Collaborates with other programs within the community to ensure clients receive holistic care.
  9. Maintains accurate and confidential client records and ensures effective personal organizational systems for paperwork that follow ethical and agency standards.
  10. Stays up to date with latest research, best practices and emerging trends in neurodiversity, trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA+ issues and cultural competence, committing to continued growth as a therapist.
  11. Demonstrates passion and initiative for innovating new programs, outreaches, and approaches to serving our community and clientele.
  12. Works in a collaborative, team environment.
  13. Provides specialized services in one or more of the following:
  14. TReportsrauma informed therapies (EMDR/Somatic Experiencing)
  15. Performs other duties as assigned to support specific department/business needs.

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

    CLINICAL:

    1. Deep understanding of neurodiversity and able to tailor interventions to meet the needs of individuals on the autism spectrum, with ADHD or other neurodivergent conditions.
    2. Knowledge of trauma-informed therapeutic modalities and strength-based practices.
    3. Cultural competence and understanding of intersectionality - able to understand the unique needs and experiences of clients who identify as neurodivergent and have experienced trauma (s).
    4. Consistently respects client needs and achieves outcomes.
    5. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve complex, multifaceted, and potentially emotionally charged situations.
    6. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to build rapport with clients, attunement, self-awareness, and self-regulation.

    OPERATIONAL:

    1. Strong organizational and prioritization skills
    2. Manages time and ensures that deadlines are met.
    3. Develops the steps necessary to accomplish long-term goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Masters Degree (MA/MS) in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Counselling or a closely related field.
    • Three (3) years of direct clinical experience (Healthcare/Medical, Psychology/Behavioral/Mental Health).
    • One (1) year of clinical experience working with neurodivergent individuals and.
    • One (1) year clinical experience implementing trauma-informed treatments.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • One (1) year post licensure clinical experience 
    • Experience and/or training in play therapy (Registered Play Therapist)
    • Experience and/or training in EMDR or other expressive therapies 
    • Training in domestic violence, physical/sexual child abuse and suicidal trauma 
    • Bi-lingual and/or bi-cultural knowledge and experience 

    LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Licensure in California (Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker or Professional Clinical Counselor)
    • First Aid/CPR Certification

    LEVEL OF CONTACT WITH CHILDREN:

      May/will have supervised contact with children.

      May/will have unsupervised contact with children.

      Will not have unsupervised contact with children.

      Requires full background check and TB exam.

      Requires physical.

      Current First Aid/CPR Certification.

    DRIVING PRIVILEGES

      May be called upon to drive on agency business. Needs acceptable MVR and appropriate insurance coverage.

      Required to drive agency vehicle. Must have clean MVR, appropriate insurance coverage, and attend agency driver training.

    TRAINING

    Needs to successfully complete all required agency training indicated for this position.

    OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

    • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Child Abuse Index Check (CAIC) background clearance.
    • Valid California Driver's license with two years' experience driving and clean driving record may be required.
