Job Descrption

Life Science at TTP

TTP’s Life Science team is on a mission to improve healthcare. Working at the intersection of biology, physical science and engineering we invent, design and manufacture products and technologies in areas including (but not limited to) cell therapies, point of care diagnostics, high-throughput drug discovery, molecular detection, DNA sequencing and cancer screening.

Multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers and designers collaborate to realise the most ambitious challenges set by our clients; global market leaders, as well as exciting technology start- and scale ups.

We are making big strides in revolutionising manufacturing and process automation so more people have access to ground-breaking cell therapies that have shown incredible results in fighting cancer. We have a proven track record in delivering cutting-edge diagnostic solutions, pushing the limits of PCR instruments.

The role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at TTP you will contribute to the design and development of a diverse range of instruments and consumables that advance research and discovery in the Life Sciences. Within this role you'll join our Cell & Gene team, however you'll have the opportunity to work on projects across all our work in biotechnology.

As a mechanical designer you'll play a key role in concept development and evolution of detailed design solutions using CAD. You'll be able to challenge your technical knowledge following very precise mechanical requirements for complex instruments. Often working on multiple projects simultaneously, you'll be trusted to manage your own time to deliver your design work to client timelines.

You'll be an experienced mechanical designer with excellent design capabilities, a wider understanding of the mechanical considerations of product development and an innovative approach to problem solving. Please explore TTP's Life Science case studies to find out more about our projects.

Requirements

  • Mechanical design experience of product or instrumentation development in a high technology industry
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD (ideally including SolidWorks)
  • Familiarity with assembly jigs and test equipment
  • Ability to present ideas through sketches, animations, and photorealistic renderings
  • Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to design plastic injection moulded parts would be an advantage
  • Experience of sourcing off-the-shelf and custom parts and building relationships with and managing suppliers
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities of multiple projects
  • Hands-on ability to build, test and troubleshoot

Our business revolves around collaborating with one another to tackle genuinely hard problems. Equality and diversity in the workplace are some of the most challenging problems facing society. But we continuously strive to do better, and we fundamentally believe in the power and importance of diversity – both for our community and for the overall success of our business.

We, therefore, encourage applications from all individuals. Whatever your background, whatever your identity: we would love to hear from you.
