At KCS the Director of UI/UX leads the establishment and ongoing development of our UI/UX department, setting the foundation for exceptional user interface and user experience across our product portfolio. This pioneering role involves creating a comprehensive UI/UX framework, developing reusable component libraries, and integrating features such as Pendo for user insights and engagement.
The Director of UI/UX will be responsible for mapping and optimizing customer journeys, ensuring our go-forward products are not only intuitive and engaging but also fully compliant with WCAG guidelines for accessibility. The vision will drive the creation of compelling, user-centred designs, enhancing user satisfaction and fostering a culture of design excellence within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establish and develop the UI/UX framework and component libraries, ensuring a cohesive and user-centric design approach.
• Integrate and leverage tools such as Pendo for in-depth user insights and engagement strategies.
• Lead the design of accessible, compliant, and engaging user interfaces, adhering to WCAG guidelines.
• Map and optimise customer journeys, conducting customer interviews to directly understand user needs and feedback, thereby enhancing the overall user experience across products.
• Guide the UI/UX team in creating prototypes, running A/B tests, and implementing design iterations based on user feedback and analytical data.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to ensure design and user experience principles are incorporated from conception to launch.
• Manage and mentor the UI/UX team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in UI/UX design, applying them to drive competitive advantage and ensure our products meet and exceed user expectations.
Key Requirements:
• Design Leadership: Strong leadership in directing UI/UX design processes and teams.
• Customer-Centric Design: Expertise in developing user-centric design strategies and delivering intuitive user experiences.
• Technical Design Skills: Proficiency with design tools and technologies, with a keen understanding of how design impacts development.
• User Research & Testing: Skilled in conducting user research, customer interviews, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
• Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and communicate design rationale effectively.
• Creative Problem-Solving: Innovative problem-solving skills with a flair for creating engaging and accessible design solutions.
• Knowledge of Compliance Standards: Familiarity with WCAG and other design compliance standards to ensure accessibility.
