The Risk division identifies, monitors, assesses, and manages financial and non-financial risks in support of the firm’s appetite and strategic plan as well as the risk of expected and unexpected events that may have an adverse impact on the firm. Risk teams play a critical function for the firm, driving how risk is taken and managed. Risk professionals execute critical day-to-day risk management activities, operating in a fast paced and dynamic environment and utilizing best-in-class risk tools and frameworks. Risk teams are analytically curious, have an aptitude for challenge, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Effective coordination with executive management, business units, control departments and technology is critical for success.
The Enterprise Risk Management (ER) department manages a range of pan-Risk capabilities to ensure that Risk and divisional leadership have a comprehensive and aggregate view of the firm’s risk profile, inclusive of both financial and non-financial risks, in a way that facilitates strategic planning and risk decision making. ER oversees the evaluation and planning of new business initiatives, management of evolving or emerging risks, governance of the division’s frameworks, processes, and capabilities, as well as regional and legal entity governance.
Within ER, the Issue Risk Management team has primary responsibility for the Enterprise Issue Management Framework in addition to independent oversight, review and challenge of remediation, root cause analyses and lessons learned in the process of managing actual and potential risk from deficiencies or gaps in controls and processes. The team engages with a wide array of businesses and risk management groups across the Firm; the cross-disciplinary nature of this work makes for a rewarding and multifaceted work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Understand and apply the firm’s issue management governance, including applicable policies, frameworks and standards. Advise, challenge and influence, as needed
• Engage with stakeholders across the firm on effective review and challenge of enterprise-wide issues, including root causes analysis, remediation and lessons learned
• Analyze firmwide issues for macro themes, patterns, clustering and emerging risks
• Develop data-driven analysis, qualitative assessments and analytical visualizations
• Prepare management reporting for the Board, senior management, and stakeholders across the firm in order to provide a holistic and actionable understanding of firmwide issues
Experience/skills required:
• Bachelor's degree
• 3-5 years in the Financial Services / Banking industry
• Prior experience in issue management, risk & controls assessment or Enterprise Risk is preferred
• Strong understanding of financial and non-financial risk disciplines
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Assessment, process, and control-oriented mindset
• Proven experience in driving own book of work and delivering against firmwide and cross-risk initiatives
• High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required. Programming experience (e.g. Python, SQL etc.) in workflow automation, data management, and/or data visualization (Tableau, Qlikview) is preferred
