Maintenance Manager at ArcelorMittal

Job Descrption

Our Maintenance Manager will ensure effective and appropriate investigating, planning, and implementation of repairs and improvements in our processes, which directly affects safety, quality, and productivity with the end result of producing a higher quality product more efficiently. This person observes all safety and environmental procedures required for complaint plant operations.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies related to maintenance activities. 
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to mitigate hazards and promote a safe work environment. 
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans, schedules, and strategies to optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. 
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across the facility. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics and implement measures to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting to resolve equipment-related issues promptly. 
  • Develop and manage repair & maintenance (R&M) budgets, including forecasting and tracking expenditures in conjunction with operational departments, finance & controlling. 
  • Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support maintenance operations effectively. 
  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, supervisors, and contractors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. 
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to enhance team capabilities and effectiveness. 
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment history, and inventory. 
  • Prepare and present reports on maintenance performance, key metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior management. 
  • Collaborate with the finance and engineering teams to support CAPEX projects related to equipment upgrades, replacements, and installations. 
  • Provide input on equipment specifications, vendor selection, cost estimation, and project timelines. 
  • Lead the planning and coordination of planned turnaround activities, including scope definition, resource allocation, and scheduling to ensure timely and efficient turnaround execution. 
  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies for spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies in coordination with operational departments and procurement. 
  • Optimize inventory levels, procurement processes, and stock replenishment to support maintenance operations effectively. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field 
  • 5-10 years of experience in maintenance management or a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the steel industry or related sectors. 
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, reliability-centered maintenance, and asset management principles. 
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (SAP), ERP software, data analysis tools, and Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)  
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a diverse team. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Spanish language is strongly preferred. 
  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency. 
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and risk management practices. 
  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours at a time in tough environmental conditions (high/low temperature, high humidity, noise, and dust), and withstand heights of up to 500 ft.  
  • Willingness to make occasional national and international business trips and therefore must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
