Summary:
The Food Safety & Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the facility's compliance with all operational regulations, including FDA requirements, internal policies, and applicable certifications. This position requires a proactive approach to enhancing and maintaining our facility's food safety program, working cross-functionally to ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Essential Functions:

  • Stay up to date with food safety regulations, including additions or changes, and ensure full compliance across the facility.
  • Work cross functionally to enhance and maintain the facility's food safety program to meet FDA requirements, internal policies, and applicable certifications.
  • Coordinate and complete internal audits to verify compliance with food safety regulations, quality policies, and customer requirements. This includes documenting findings, preparing reports, and presenting these findings to department leadership.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and validate their effectiveness to address any non-compliance issues.
  • Assist in preparing for and participating in external audits, including those for regulatory compliance and certifications.
  • Provide training and education to employees on food safety practices and quality standards, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Evaluates and monitors the performance of internal quality control practices via audits, customer feedback, and other means of verification. 
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Competencies:

  • Must have computer/technology knowledge and skills necessary to perform job responsibilities.
  • Must have knowledge of quality principles and industry standards.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and audit reporting 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ability to maintain current knowledge, skills and/or certifications relevant to assigned job responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years in food safety and plant quality operations within the food and beverage industry or related manufacturing industry
  • Previous experience with Quality Management Systems, HACCP and GSFI schemes
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Previous experience working in the food or beverage industry.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None

Work Location & Travel Required:
This position works on-site reporting to the Princeton location. Work-related travel is minimal and primarily required for training purposes or visits to educational facilities.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • This position requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time, including the dexterity to frequently type on a keyboard.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Involves frequent exposure to noise and the ability to stand on a hard surface for extended periods of time.
