Critical Care PGY-2 Pharmacy Resident at HealthPartners
Saint Paul, United States

Job Descrption

The Critical Care PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency at Regions Hospital is an ASHP-accredited program that provides residents with the experience and knowledge necessary to become competent practitioners in critical care pharmacy practice. PGY-2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY-1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY-2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY-2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.

The year will focus on the following objectives:

  • Providing exceptional patient care and unsurpassed service in a critical care setting.
  • Contributing to the body of medical literature.
  • Developing leadership and practice management skills within and outside of the employing institution.
  • Participating in clinical research, medication use evaluations, and performance improvement projects focused on critical care pharmacotherapy.
  • Developing collaborative relationships with members of the multi-disciplinary patient care team.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve patient and/or provider quality and safety.
  • Providing experiential training and/or education to health care professionals.
  • Presenting research and/or providing education at a professional conference.
