JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant (CMA, MA, RMA, LPN, EMT) DEPARTMENT: Clinical
REPORTS TO: Care Delivery Supervisor

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Service excellence is to be centered on patient care and patient relationships and is the responsibility of all employees. Carry out patient care tasks and medical orders as delegated by physicians, APPs or other health care personnel following the Care Model Process.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
Conducts pre-visit planning, visit process, and other Care Model Process workflows.
Performs accurate and timely charting to support patient care and service.
Obtain health history information. Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances.
Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting.
Accurately document observations, actions and patient outcomes in EMR.
Identify patient education needs, provide instruction and pend orders appropriately.
Stocks and cleans examination rooms between patients and at end of session.
Sterilizes/cleans equipment and instruments.
Monitors and requests supplies (or communicates to appropriate staff member) to ensure proper inventory and avoid interruption in service.
Complies with applicable legislation such as OSHA and infection control standards.
Assists in orientation and training of new personnel as assigned to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
Participates in quality improvement activities.
Participates actively in self-development and educational activities.
Complies with Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures and standing orders.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, holding themselves accountable.

Greet patients with a warm welcome and completes interactions with a warm closure.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires full range of body motion, which includes handling and lifting patients, stooping or stretching, hand-eye coordination, and manual and finger dexterity. Requires walking and standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity.
Requires the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
LPN (Current MN License), or
CMA Current AAMA Certificate, or
RMA Current AMT Certificate, or
Medical Assistant Non Certified-completion of an accredited medical assistant program (Ex: CAAHCP, ABHES), or
Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT license.
CPR Certification required and maintained
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Organizes effectively.

Understands regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish safe working conditions.
Ability to maintain records, write reports and respond to correspondence.
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
Maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Ability to work quickly under pressure.
Works productively as a team player.
