About Camden
Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
How You’ll Be Involved
Camden's recently established Health and Wellbeing Department is committed to fostering health advancements, diminishing health disparities, and advocating for fair outcomes among our residents.
We are now seeking two Commissioning Officers on a temporary basis, one to work within Healthy Lives Sexual Health Team and one to work within the Substance Misuse Team. There will be an expectation that you work across either team dependent on business need.
As Commissioning Officer in the Healthy Lives commissioning team, you will be involved by taking responsibility for all elements of the commissioning cycle. You will collaborate closely with Public Health Strategists, Commissioning Managers, and the Head of Service to conduct thorough and regular needs assessments. This aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of current and future local needs. Additionally, you will oversee the commissioning of services aimed at maximising health and wellbeing outcomes for service users, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
You will foster strong collaborative relationships among various stakeholders, including Integrated Care Board Commissioners, other Camden Council representatives, service providers, service users, carers, and private, voluntary, and community sector providers. This collaborative effort aims to commission high-quality services benefiting adults, children, young people, and families, ultimately improving health and wellbeing outcomes.
Whilst these roles will work across both sexual health and substance misuse, the 9 month role will predominantly focus on sexual health and the 15 month role will predominantly focus on substance misuse.

We’re looking for someone with experience in collaborative working with professionals from diverse agencies, along with the ability to coordinate inputs effectively to secure strategic priorities and achieve objectives. A thorough knowledge of NHS, Local Authority, primary care, and voluntary sector provisions related to public health services is required. You should be proficient in designing strategies to engage essential stakeholders, adjusting their approach to encourage positive partnerships.
