About the role

Camden set up its wholly owned housing company Camden Living Ltd in 2016 to widen housing opportunities for Camden residents principally through offering intermediate rent housing. In 2022, it decided to set up a Registered Provider (RP) of social housing arm of the company to increase the Council’s capacity to deliver new affordable housing. The process of setting up the is expected to complete in late 2024. Both companies form part of an overarching company, Camden Living Group Limited. 

The Senior Business Partner Companies will be responsible for comprehensive financial support and advice to Camden Living Group Limited, including operational accountancy support, financial planning, monitoring and reporting, and the production of the company’s annual accounts. 

You will also support the strategic vision of the Companies through reviewing new proposals and assess the viability of future projects. 

The post holder will also be expected to keep up to date with best financial practice and guidance from relevant professional bodies.

To deliver on this aspiration, our finance team is expected to work in a collaborative way within the council, and with our residents and partners. It is important that we provide a service that always reflects best practice and is streamlined and efficient. To achieve this, we will continue to invest in our teams to ensure they are properly resourced and skilled to provide sound, relevant financial advice and innovative solutions to support service pressures, demonstrate initiative and lead a solution focused service.

About you 

In this role you will have a proven track record of working in, the housing sector or limited companies, with experience of working in a finance business partner role. 

You will have a strong understanding of the financial policies and frameworks in which limited companies or housing associations operate with experience of implementing and communicating these to both finance and non-finance staff. In particular, you will have experience in preparing financial statements for limited companies or housing associations.

You will be proficient in using complex financial data to prepare medium term forecasts for the company and to develop business cases for future acquisitions.  

You will have advanced excel skills to develop a dynamic model structure to evaluate investment viability and undertake financial analysis to determine unit cost and value for money. 

The right individual will also have exceptional communication skills and will have experience of communicating complex financial information to Board Members, company officers and other key stakeholders both verbally and in writing.  You’ll have a ‘can do’ attitude and take personal responsibility to deliver objectives and support the team.
