About Us 

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London.  It is well connected  by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR and Elizabeth Line, close to our council offices, as well as the A13 and major routes.  We have recently restructured our services so that we have a specialist Learning Disabilities Team 25+; we are looking for a Social Worker to join us on our journey so that we can deliver better services.

About the Job

It is an exciting time to join us on our journey to provide the best quality services for our residents in Newham.  Everything we do is aimed at providing high quality and person-centred/strength based approach in the right location at the right time, making a real difference for the people and communities we support in Newham.  We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Social Worker for our Learning Disabilities Team 25+, which  provides support to adults with Learning Disabilities over the age of 25. The post is reporting to the Learning Disabilities Team Manager. We are looking for a  social worker who would like the opportunity to work in a team where the focus is on relationship-based work and building independence through a positive approach to risk and the strengths-based model. You will have completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and be able to manage a varied caseload. This role requires close partnership working with a range of professionals and Court of protection. You will part of a team that always support each other. About You

You will be working in a busy frontline Adult Social Care environment. The service is responsible for undertaking all ASC/social work interventions including assessments, reviews, safeguarding and case management work for Adult Social Care Customers with Learning Disabilities. To apply you should be a qualified social worker with a current Social Work England registration. You will bring at least 2 years post qualifying social work experience, evidence of continuing professional development, and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards. There is a need for attention to detail and positive knowledge of not only the Care Act 2014 but also the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty and Court of Protection procedures. The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east.  It is well connected  by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.

 

 

Newham has a large housing regeneration programme that will build over 1,000 new council homes by 2022.
