As a modern, flexible and effective organisation, we’re driven to make a positive difference in the way we deliver efficiencies and improvements for the Council’s school travel services, particularly for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND).

We are looking for an experienced person to co-ordinate a programme of works where the main focus will be to risk assess pupils who are eligible for funded school travel with an identified need.

Your work will make a significant difference by delivering important changes for the benefit of Suffolk’s communities.

Reimagine the possibilities.

Your role and responsibilities

In this varied, challenging and rewarding role you will lead a high profile project to develop a robust programme to co-ordinate a review of risk assessments where there is an identified need in line with the council policies and procedures, in the provision of SEND school travel.  This will require you to attend meetings with stakeholders and facilitate panels, where complex needs are identified that require input from specialist services for consideration.

The key to the success of this role will be leading on engagement with internal contacts, and facilitate external engagement with parents and carers, as well as schools and colleges to ensure that effective relationships are developed and sustained for the participation in the delivery of the reviews.

You will also support the development and delivery of the Service by seeking to optimise processes, strive for efficiency and identify areas for cost saving.

You will need

To be passionate about making a positive difference for Suffolk, be a team player and be enthusiastic to manage change. As such you will need to have experience of working in an educational setting, particularly with children and young people with SEND along with health and safety practices.   Experience in school travel is not essential but could be of benefit.
