Job Details
In this high school kitchen, you would be responsible for all activities in a larger, high-volume kitchen and its surrounds. Connected with the provision of a catering service which may include satellite services. Co-ordinate the activities of staff working within the catering environment.
Supervising staff working in the kitchen.
You must be aware of HACCP procedures and ensure all paperwork and electronic returns are completed and submitted according.
Understanding dietary and nutritional needs.
Duties may also include transporting and serving of meals, general kitchen and dining room duties (for example washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables), and cleaning of the kitchen and it's surround.
We have a permanent vacancy to join our team in Kirkcaldy at Balwearie High School, on a Monday to Friday working 36 hours per week, between the hours of 7:30am and 3:30pm as required.
You will earn a competitive salary of £25,829.49 - £28,251.00 pro-rata and have access to a range of benefits, including:
This work is about ensuring pupils and staff are provided with meals throughout the school day during term time as required - schools mainly provide breakfast and lunch.
Training on in house systems will be provided. Working towards an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate will be essential once in post.
The Person
Catering experience or a qualification such as an SVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent is essential for this post.
Ability to provide a regular and effective service, working alone or as part of a team.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
