The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.
Job description: We have an opportunity for a Model Design Engineer to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will work within a group of skilled design engineers in delivering quality designed 60% model parts for Wind Tunnel testing, to support the aerodynamic performance development of the team’s race cars. Principal Accountabilities:
Deliver high quality designed parts for Wind Tunnel testing.
Working on design projects, including part creation, management, checking, fault prevention and resolution, as well as project documentation.
Continually improving the quality and functionality of the model parts/assemblies to improve the efficiency of the Wind Tunnel test program.
Support development and maintaining improved methods of working.
Work closely with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure the delivered parts meet the specified requirements.
Adhere to standard design practices set by the Aero Design groups.
Occasional travel may be required as part of this role.
Requirements
A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar.
Has a minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
Experience with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
Good knowledge and understanding of part quality, model layout and robustness.
Possess a good level of understanding of parametric modelling techniques.
Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA).
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture.
Good knowledge and understanding of GD&T and its application.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
