Grounds Maintenance Team Leader at Incommunities

Job Descrption

We're looking for a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a varied role which includes overseeing a small team of operatives, providing training, mentoring, monitoring works and ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.

Hours of work are seasonal – 26 weeks, 5 days 07.30 – 17.00 & 26 weeks, 4 days 07.30 – 15.15

Responsibilities

  • Supervise small teams of operatives providing a grounds maintenance service to our customers consisting of grass cutting, hedge trimming, weed spraying, gritting, leaf clearance and additional winter works.
  • Carry out regular audits and check work standards in line with our service agreement.
  • Deal with low level disciplinary issues within the teams.
  • Ensure work, including health and safety compliance tasks, is planned, completed, and recorded accurately.
  • Provide mentoring, support & training in the form of toolbox talks, regular check in’s, refresher training, new starter inductions & machinery refresher training.
  • Ensure Health and Safety policies and procedures are applied, and that risk assessments and checks are undertaken to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure the maintenance and repair of all equipment, tools and vans is completed and within the time scales required.

About you

  • Experience of supervising, directing, and supporting teams of people.
  • The ability to be an effective team player, good organisational skills, good problem-solving skills, and experience of managing your own workload to meet targets.
  • Horticultural/grounds maintenance knowledge and experience
  • Numeracy and English literacy skills up to level 2 or equivalent
  • Experience of using IT Microsoft packages and equipment including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and the internet for work purposes  
  • A current UK manual car driving licence.
  • Respectful, honest & hard-working attitude

  • Ability to work in all weathers.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessment methodology
  • Experience of carrying out tasks which involve physical effort of bending, stretching, heavy lifting, sweeping, digging, including practical use hand tools, equipment and power operated equipment such as, strimmers, hedge cutters, blowers, pedestrian mowers, walk behinds, standers, tractors and ride on mowers.
