As part of Hardware Test Engineering at Apple you will work on groundbreaking Display technology for the next generation of products. Your work will encourage innovation in metrology arena for sophisticated optical stacks of Display devices. You will author novel image processing algorithms to calibrate and screen devices with Apple’s strict quality targets. Your solutions will be highly optimized and deployed at scale across our Contract Manufacturing sites.
An ideal candidate will be eager to learn from the past and be curious about all related fields, such as: software, physics, data science, and technology fundamentals. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills are required.
Key Qualifications
Strong optical simulation experience with ray tracing tools such as LightTools, Zemax, Code V, etc.
Strong understanding of geometrical optics and aberration theory
Evaluate design solutions by performing detailed tolerance analysis
Experience in developing benchtop optical systems and in defining methodology to characterize the performance for comparison against the design
Programming fundamentals with Python, MATLAB
Following experience is a plus : image processing, computer vision fundamentals, color science
Self-motivated, independent, and takes initiative
Resourceful, prepared to champion work in front of a large group, and enjoys working in multi-functional team
Description
You will work on introducing powerful technology to people around the world to make their life better. The ideal candidate will have had direct experience with optical imaging systems and/or extensive application with computer vision techniques. Day to day responsibilities may include:
- Design and analyze optical instruments intended for the calibration and test of novel products
- Develop prototype instruments to demonstrate proposed solutions and conduct detailed analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively assess performance against target spec
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to deliver innovative metrology solutions
- Drive technical activities and discussions with external vendors
- Provide streamlined and detailed presentations
Education & Experience
MS or PhD in Optical Engineering, Applied Physics or related fields
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
