Role Description This is a full-time role as a Principal Tunnel Engineer located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Principal Tunnel Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design of tunnels and underground structures. Your day-to-day tasks will include the following: Lead tunnel designs for transportation (road/rail) tunnels and deep sewer tunnels. Structural analysis and design of... reinforced concrete tunnel works. Structural analysis and design of steel structures supporting temporary tunnel works. Empirical tunnel design and settlement assessment analysis and FE Modelling. Writing reports and specifications to communicate project specific structural design and construction principles and processes with clients, owners and third parties. Providing constructability review and construction input to design process for on-site. Technical excellence in design and project deliverables is expected. Deliver solutions to complex problems. Use initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise. Work independently or as part of a team. Communicate clearly with colleagues, managers and clients. Qualifications and Skills BEng / BSc (Hon) or equivalent in civil or structural engineering. CEng or PE accreditation is preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of tunnels, underground construction works and retaining systems with a focus on complex soil-structure interaction. At least 5 years experience in the Middle East is preferred. Mixed experience of site and design is preferred. Experience in developing innovative underground structural solutions using current design standards and guidelines. Experience in tunnel design and construction in various ground conditions and using both TBM and open excavation (such as SEM/NATM) techniques. Knowledge of analytical geotechnical software such as RS2, Plaxis, Abaqus etc. Experience with numerical analysis software (geotechnical/structural). Detailed working knowledge of tunneling standards as adopted in the Gulf region. Experience in using other international codes and standards is desirable. Energetic, proactive, reliable team player with excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of customer service principles. Experience of working closely with Contractors preferred
