Appian’s Information Security department is responsible for a wide variety of areas, and engineers that are eager to be involved in many different areas of hands-on responsibility are required. As a Senior IT Engineer, you’ll also collaborate with infrastructure technology peers and handle business solutions for the company’s network infrastructure. The perfect candidate would have a track record of using a diverse set of technologies to achieve business goals.
Responsibilities:
Plan and lead LAN, WAN, network security, and systems projects and platforms such as multi-vendor network devices, enterprise switches, routers, and firewalls, wireless controllers and VPN technologies, including routing and switching protocols, VoIP, servers, DHCP, DNS, and so on
Leverage cloud technologies (AWS), Azure, GCP, Fortinet, Ruckus, among other new technologies to provide guidance and help find creative solutions to complex problems
Respond to and resolve emergent problems across our diverse enterprise systems, from the physical layer to the application layer
Utilize best practices based on various frameworks (e.g. ITIL, ISO, SOC, PCI) and support internal and external audit activities
You’ll use the know-how and discerning standards you’ve racked up over years of experience to recommend emerging technologies to keep our network modern, innovative, and secure
Collaborate with team of fellow tech gurus and play an integral part of network and systems design, architecture and administration
Required Experience:
You’re well educated, with at least a BS in Computer Science or related field/degree
In-depth understanding of networking protocols, technologies, and concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, subnetting, etc.)
You are skilled in BGP routing protocol. You have the ability to plan, design, implement and troubleshoot BGP routing issues.
You’re a Fortinet Network Security Expert or Specialist (NSE 4, NSE 5) on the Enterprise side or and have 6+ years of experience as an accomplished Fortinet Network administrator.
You have experience designing and managing wireless networks and troubleshooting wireless connectivity issues. Experience with Fortinet and Ruckus wireless is a plus
You have experience with scripting and automation tools that manage network configuration changes and source control.
Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
You have an ability to approach problems from unconventional angles, offering unique perspectives
You have a forward-thinking mindset, forecasting potential problems and following developing technological trends
