Japanese Major Trading House is seeking for Qualified Senior Accountant.

Senior Qualified Accountant

Salary: up to 75K

London, Hybrid

Main purpose of Job:

Main businesses within commodity trading are:

· Precious metals, base metals, energy, emissions

· Gas and Power

Accounting team looks after the accounting-related services for the group entities, which are located in the UK, Germany, and New York offices. Under the supervision of the Financial Controller, the team prepares monthly management accounts,

annual statutory accounts, and reports according to other regulation-related compliance requirements for commodity trading group companies.

Scope of Job:

· Responsible mainly for Gas and Power business-related accounting, including a group entity engaged in the power business in Germany

· Daily bank suspense account clearing

· Responsible for daily reconciliations for interfaces from sales systems to the General Ledger

· Post accounting double entries in the SAP system... preparing accurate supporting information

· Prepare monthly management accounts and the group consolidation reporting package in accordance with IFRS

· Intercompany reconciliation

· Prepare statutory financial statements including liaison with external/internal auditors

· Consider accounting treatment regarding a new business

· Accounting process improvement

· Active involvement in the planned future split of the Gas and Power business into a separate company

· Note that all employees need to be in the office a minimum of 3 days a week

Dimensions and Limits of Authority:
All work will be approved by relevant managers in accordance with Company Rules.

Qualifications / Skills / Language / Experience / Personal Qualities:

Qualifications:

· Must be a certified accountant in any country (i.e., ACCA/AC in the UK, US CPA, etc.)

Skills:

· Advanced bookkeeping skills

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: Using large volumes of data in tabular format

· Excellent organisational & analytical skills

· Good communication skills (written and verbal)

· Time management skills

· Effective problem solver

· Ability to research and interpret IFRS regulations independently

· Basic knowledge of direct and indirect tax

Language:

· English (Business level)

Experience:

· At least 3 years of accounting experience in a company

· Experience and knowledge about the energy industry would be preferable

· Experience with the SAP system – desirable

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £60,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
