Newly Qualified Chartered Accountant
LOCATION:
Based in Hertfordshire, but would have opportunity to work from all offices London / Hertfordshire / Chelmsford, Essex
START DATE & INTERVIEW TIMES:
Interviewing immediately, start date will be September onwards 2024 (date TBC)
ROLE TYPE:
Permanent/ Full-time (Office based)
HOURS/DAYS (per week):
9am - 5:30pm (7.5 hours per day) 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
SALARY RANGE:
£35,000 to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
NOTICE & PROBATION PERIODS:
6 months' probation / Notice period - TBC

ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Thickbroom is a hugely respected Accounting Practice, which has been servicing a range of clients throughout multiple sectors since the 50's. Historically it has fluctuated between 10 and 20... employees, but this changed in 2020 when the company entered a period of strategic growth. Since then the company has grown to circa 45 employees throughout 4 office locations. Thickbroom deals with small to medium owner managed businesses.
The company's USP is the service and care it gives to all its clients. We are looking to grow to circa 60 people over the next 24 months. Growth is to be achieved through investing in their youth and onboarding ambitious apprentices, but also by ensuring key hires are made at all levels of seniority. Plenty of opportunity and responsibility will be given to those working within the firm, allowing optimal career growth and opportunity for those that continue to push the business forward.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Thickbroom are seeking a newly qualified Chartered Accountant with the hunger to learn and develop into a potential partner. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Accounting principles, financial analysis, and business strategy, combined with a passion for driving growth and creating opportunities for the company. Whilst not compulsory, training from a small to medium sized firm of Chartered Accountants would be beneficial in regards to the varied nature of the role. Answering directly to the Managing Director, you would be working within a management team of 3, including a tax specialist and a specialist in company secretarial work. The team has a number of juniors that you would be expected to train and mould into future Chartered Accountants.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Preparation of year end statutory accounts
- Preparation of both corporate and personal tax returns
- Reviewing junior's work
- Tax planning
- Working with the managing director and senior team on bespoke projects
- Business development and winning new work
- Financial modelling
- Bank applications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA)
- Strong academic background
- The ability to client face and inspire confidence
- Knowledge of IRIS accounting software a bonus (but not compulsory)
- An understanding and passion for business
