Job Descrption

A multi Oscar-winning creative studio, we have worked with some of the greatest storytellers in film today. Collaborating with directors and producers across the complete filmmaking process to help design, plan and create beautiful images, we focus on finding innovative creative solutions to support their vision and set new standards for visual effects in cinema.

The Role
As an animator at Framestore, you'll produce high-quality animation which creates compelling, story-driven and action-packed moments that fit within the style and pacing of the film.

To do this, you'll work closely with the lead animator and animation supervisor, as well as the rigging and pipeline departments, to whom you'll provide suggestions and feedback to improve character setup, visual quality, rigs and tool functionality. 

But it’s not just about the artistry, you will also :

  • Respect schedules and deadlines, working effectively alone or as part of a team.

  • Communicate with the production team and supervisor regarding schedules and deadlines.

  • Train in the use of new tools, software, data and related technology.

Requirements

How to excel in this role?

  • Previous experience as an animator in a studio environment

  • Thorough knowledge of Maya

  • Knowledge of movements, weights, balance, textures and shapes

  • Knowledge of rigs and typical rigging set-ups, animation processes and data transfer between tools

  • Reliability, ability to manage time well and meet deadlines, even under pressure

  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills within the team and with other departments.

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and technical skills

Nice to have 

  • Working knowledge of modelling ,rigging and scripting with Mel or Python

  • Experience working with motion capture data and/or classical animation or traditional art experience

  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and the ability to draw from life
