You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team providing planned care and delivering the highest standards of patient care within the ED. The role is exciting and challenging, where compassion, team work, excellent communication skills, emotional resilience and initiative are paramount.
You will embrace the challenge of working as a Nursing Associate in a highly diverse environment, you will be registered with the NMC and have experience of working in an acute hospital environment.
As a nursing associate in the Emergency Department you will be need to be flexible and able to adapt to meet the needs of the department day to day. This includes assisting with basic nursing care through to caring for your own caseload of patients.
You will need to have experience of working in an acute hospital environment as well as a Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner qualification at level 4. Experience of working with patients acutely unwell would be an advantage

the nursing associate is able to safely demonstrate and maintain competence of the following procedures:
use manual techniques and devices to take, record and interpret vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitoring
safe administration of medicines via oral, topical and inhalation routes
safe administration of injections using subcutaneous and intramuscular routes
adminstration of medicines via the enteral route
administer enemas and suppositories
undertake routine venepuncuture, phlebotomy and ECGs
measure and interpret blood glucose and Ketone levels
monitoring accurate intake and output charts (fluid balance
wound care
wound closure using simple techniques such as glue and steristrips
plastering and applying immobilisation equipment
best practice infection control
continence assessment
diabetes care
chronic disease management
pressure area care
bowel care
palliative care
male and female catheterisation
pain assessment
documentation
To establish effective working relations with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi-disciplinary approach to patient
To supervise unqualified staff, to ensure that they have the knowledge, skills and resources to carry out delegated aspects
