Join our team as a Specialist Nutrition Support Dietitian!
We're looking for a dynamic individual to lead our Adult Home Enteral Tube Feeding service in the London Borough of Barnet. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team of 5 dietitians and 2 assistants, covering key clinical areas such as Home Enteral Tube Feeding, Oral Nutritional Support, and Complex Obesity.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Specialist Services within the North Central London Directorate, you will have the chance to work closely with a wide range of professionals, contributing to service development and enhancing patient care. Your excellent communication and organisational skills will be essential in coordinating nutritional care for highly complex... patients across the Borough. You'll build on established relationships with acute trusts, rehabilitation units, community services, and social care, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.
Our service is committed to flexible, patient-centered care. You will provide support in patients' homes, care homes, clinics, and through virtual consultations. We encourage staff to utilize mobile working to enhance service delivery and promote smarter working practices. To support this, you'll be provided with a laptop.
Your Responsibilities:
The post is ideal for an experienced Band 6, or a Band 7 dietitian who possesses strong leadership capabilities and is eager to advance their career in clinical nutrition support. The role offers the opportunity to specialize in a dynamic field and develop advanced skills while contributing to a high-performing team.
Job responsibilities
Clinical Expertise and Autonomous Practice:
Deliver high-level clinical care to patients requiring nutrition support in both inpatient and community settings, including patients with complex medical conditions.
Independently manage a caseload, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans based on clinical need.
Be adequately skilled to work autonomously, while also contributing to collaborative decision-making within the multidisciplinary team.
Utilize advanced knowledge in nutrition support, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, to tailor individualized treatment plans.
Leadership and Development:
Provide effective leadership within the nutrition support team, offering guidance, motivation, and mentorship to both junior and peer-level staff.
Collaborate with senior management to contribute to service development, policy updates, and implementation of best practices in nutrition support.
Lead by example in delivering high-quality patient care, maintaining professional standards, and promoting evidence-based practice.
Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
Person Specification
Qualifications
• Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
• Evidence of other post registration education and training in nutrition support and enteral feeding
• Membership of British Dietetic Association
• Member of Specialist Interest Group related to Nutrition Support
• Supervisory skills training
• Post-registration training in Behaviour Change
Experience
• Post-registration and previous experience in a range of clinical areas including nutrition support.
• Experience of formulating treatment plans for malnourished patients or those at risk of malnutrition adopting a food-based approach.
• Experience of recommending the use of oral nutritional supplements in line with NICE guidelines and ACBS criteria.
• Experience in managing patients requiring oral nutrition support with other nutrition-related diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
• Experience in supervising/training/teaching healthcare professionals.
• Experience in the training of student Dietitians.
• Experience in conducting nutrition support audits, quality improvement and/or research.
• Experience in using behaviour change techniques.
• Experience in contributing to policy, procedures, guidelines and clinical standards development.
• Experience in working within community dietetics.
• Experience in demand management of oral nutrition support working with medicines management and GPs.
• Experience in home enteral feeding.

£51,883 to £58,544 a year per annum, inclusive of HCAS, pro rata.
