Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Consultant for a remote, UK-based position to assist Mellitah Oil & Gas's in-country operations and major projects. The role will focus on mechanical systems... management, operational leadership, and project execution across all assets. The ideal candidate will bring senior-level experience and provide technical support from the UK, with occasional travel to Libya as required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mechanical Systems Management: Oversee the operation of Mellitah's mechanical systems, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry best practices. This includes assets such as the Bahr Essalam and Wafa fields and offshore operations on the Sabratha platform.
• Brownfield Maintenance & Modifications: Plan and manage brownfield maintenance and modification projects, collaborating closely with in-country teams. This includes conducting feasibility studies, engineering designs, and overseeing project execution with minimal disruption to ongoing production activities.
• SimOps: Provide remote support for SimOps projects, ensuring safe and efficient execution of concurrent operations. Develop risk mitigation strategies to maintain safety in production environments during these complex activities.
• Project Leadership: Lead key mechanical projects from initial concept through to commissioning and handover. Collaborate with Mellitah's in-country teams to ensure alignment with business objectives, cost management, and timelines.
• Mechanical Optimization: Leverage your expertise to remotely support mechanical optimization initiatives across Mellitah's production facilities, driving performance improvements and enhancing system efficiency.
• HSE Compliance: Ensure all mechanical operations comply with Mellitah's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. Lead risk management reviews remotely, in coordination with the on-site teams.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a technical expert and mentor for Mellitah's in-country mechanical teams. Provide guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of engineering solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate remotely with Mellitah's internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring that all mechanical solutions align with both operational needs and long-term strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering within exploration and production, with a focus on mechanical systems management, brownfield maintenance, and project leadership.
Technical Proficiency:
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Experience with safety analysis techniques like HAZOP, LOPA, and QRA.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex mechanical systems remotely.
Project Management:
• Proven track record in managing large-scale projects remotely, with the ability to oversee project execution and ensure timely delivery from a distance.
HSE Knowledge:
• Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and risk management, especially in high-risk oil and gas operations.
Travel Requirements:
• While this is a UK-based remote role, a willingness to travel to Libya for project inspections or key meetings as needed would be advantageous.
