Chief of Staff, Technology (Onsite - 3 to 4 days per week onsite in Irvine, CA)

Overview:

As Chief of Staff, Technology at Weedmaps, you will take on a wide range of responsibilities to support the Chief Technology Officer and the technology organization as a whole. You’ll help manage the tech organization by streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program management, and communicating objectives to departments.

You will be responsible for supporting and improving the CTO’s effectiveness through planning, prioritization, and coordination of executive decisions and action items. You will also serve as a critical partner in defining and managing the cadence of business as well as coordinating and connecting teams and work streams to ensure the business is moving quickly and in the right direction. You will serve as a coordinator for special projects, working with a vast array of stakeholders on both the strategic vision and project execution.

The impact you'll make:

  • Oversee strategic technology initiatives, from development through successful execution, under the guidance of senior leadership and functional leaders.
  • Assist and communicate with technology leaders and employees as needed to support decision-making, program management, and the successful execution of initiatives.
  • Improve current processes and optimize organizational procedures for efficiency and productivity.
  • Support the CTO and partner with the broader Engineering, Product and Design teams, and their leaders.
  • Share unbiased insights and develop recommendations as needed. 
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the CTO and act as a representative when required.
  • Create and maintain the infrastructure for efficient operations.
  • Drive various cross-functional projects to completion
  • Help the CTO to prioritize and track critical issues and projects.
  • Keep a pulse on organizational health to inform decisions and ensure continuous improvement and scalability.
  • Lead, direct and be accountable for the overall performance of various project teams and ensure successful delivery of initiatives.
  • Provide weekly Reports, Scorecards, and Dashboards to the CTO.
  • Investigate and help resolve cross-functional issues that impact the technology teams.
  • Partner with Finance to develop and manage technology budgets and financial resource allocations.
  • Partner with HR to drive organizational and personnel changes as needed.
  • Be a general resource and point of contact for the Technology teams and the broader organization as needed.

What you've accomplished:

  • 8+ years experience in technology operations consulting / strategy / stakeholder and project management or related experience; some high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in organizing and managing multiple teams.
  • Experience in planning and leading complex strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in Program Management and/or Business Operations.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, strategic, and process driven.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate, present, influence, and explain across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and management levels.
  • Ability to define metrics for success and track KPIs towards those metrics.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial: you’re a self-starter who loves to own things from start to completion. You make things happen and don’t need to ask for permission first.
  • Ability to influence at all levels in the organization. 
  • Ability to effectively adjust in a dynamic, ever changing environment.
  • Ability to make timely, effective, and principled decisions.

Bonus Points:

  • Computer Science or similar technical degree.

The base pay range for this position is $140,000.00 to $160,000.00 per year
