Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced General Carpenter to join our team in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and fixtures across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This includes work on frameworks, doors, windows, flooring, staircases, and more. The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow blueprints and technical drawings while ensuring all work meets industry standards and building regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Construction & Installation: Build, install, and repair wooden structures, such as doors, windows, floors, staircases, and frameworks in homes, offices, and commercial buildings.
• Custom Carpentry: Create custom fittings, cabinets, and furniture as per client specifications and project designs.
• Reading Blueprints: Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project plans to... ensure precise measurements and accurate installation.
• Measurements & Cutting: Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials using hand and power tools.
• Framing: Build and install framework structures, including stud walls, joists, and rafters, ensuring they meet building codes and safety standards.
• Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out repairs on existing wooden structures, including windows, doors, frames, and flooring.
• Finishing: Sand, varnish, stain, and apply finishes to wooden surfaces to create a polished and professional appearance.
• Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety protocols, ensuring tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained and safe to use.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other tradespeople, including plumbers, electricians, and general contractors, to complete projects on time.
Key Skills & Requirements:
• Experience:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Carpenter in construction or refurbishment projects.
• Qualifications:
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent trade certification (preferred).
• CSCS card (desirable but not essential).
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools such as saws, drills, sanders, and nail guns.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans.
• Attention to Detail: Strong precision in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials to ensure perfect fits and finishes.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions to carpentry challenges during installation and repair work.
• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to handle manual labour, lift heavy materials, and work in various conditions, including at heights or in confined spaces.
• Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence is required, as travel to various job sites may be necessary.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, supervisors, and other trades.
• Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
