Closing Date: April 7, 2024Reporting to the Manager, Land and Conservation, the Senior Lead, Land Tenure is responsible for ensuring the overall success of acquiring and managing subsurface and surface land rights, leases and agreements in order to support mining operations, land management strategy, and exploration. This includes collaborating and communicating with local communities, industry, lease holders and internal departments.We are looking for someone strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, who can build and maintain positive relationships with partners across all levels of our organization and external stakeholders. Responsibilities:
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Maintenance, renewal and acquisition of mineral claims, petroleum and natural gas rights, coal licenses and leases and associated royalty management
Maintenance of existing and management of negotiations and preparation for new surface dispositions such as statutory rights of way, surface leases, access licenses, road use agreement and linear easements as well as existing leases and rental agreements including tracking payments, drafting and executing agreements
Purchase land and residencies including tax assessments, drafting/reviewing agreements, reviewing titles and associated dispositions and execution of agreements
Filling of required documents for land associated with the Agricultural Land Reserve
Provide specialized expertise related to agreements, leases, Acts, licenses and subsurface and surface land rights rendering support to permitting, development, reclamation, community relations, geotechnical and exploration initiatives and requirements
Actively search for land acquisition opportunities that support our commitment to be Nature Positive by 2030
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Geosciences, Land Tenure Management or any related field or a certification in Land Tenure Management
Minimum seven years of experience in surface and subsurface land management in an industrial setting
Technical knowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation, standards, and effective industry best management practices
Ability to communicate activities with government agencies and stakeholders concerning land acquisitions, permitting and agreements
Basic competency with GIS - ArcMap and land management software (e.g. Landfolio)
