About the job:
The IT Technical Analyst role is to assist with the replacement of our existing WAN across the SWR network. Travel is a key part of the role and the post holder... will be meeting our new WAN suppliers at stations, depots and offices across the network to oversee the installation of new equipment, work with the SWR IT team to migrate sites on the new network, and ensure that everyone is working in a safe manner. Other key activities include configuring and installing switches, as well as ensuring documentation and assets are kept up to date.
The role will require the post holder to be self-motivated.
Your main responsibilities will be:
• Meet network engineers at site to provide access for them to install new circuits and fix faults
• Work with our network provider to migrate sites from our existing WAN to the new as smoothly as possible
• Replace and configure network switches as required.
• Test that the new network is working in the required manor.
• Manage the contractors when they are on site, ensuring they follow all appropriate guidelines and procedures
• Keep documentation and records up to date as changes are made
• Ensure all cabinets are left neat, tidy and secure
• Remove any old equipment and return for decommissioning as per the process
• Work with Station Managers and ticket office staff to make them aware and ensure disruption is kept to a minimum
• Assist the wider IT team with service requests as required
As a minimum, you will need to be:
• A self-motivated, IT professional with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a complex IT environment. Network experience is desirable.
You will also need to have:

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, including occasional out of hours working

• Can show initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to daily tasks
About the location:
South Western Railways HQ is based on the 4th Floor at South Bank Central, a stone's throw from the River Thames and a 10 minute walk from our busiest station, Waterloo. It is local to many well-known attractions, restaurants and retail facilities and is easily accessible by public transport.
Working pattern:
Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days - standard office hours
