A highly reputable Multi Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Welfare Officer to join their Ofsted-rated GOOD secondary school located in Hornchurch, Essex. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting the welfare, well-being, and personal development of students, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment that enhances learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide support and guidance to students regarding their emotional, social, and academic well-being.
• Develop and implement welfare programs and initiatives to foster a positive school culture.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to address student needs effectively.
• Monitor and track student progress, identifying any barriers to learning and implementing appropriate... interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and reports on student welfare issues, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding policies.
• Facilitate workshops and group sessions focused on personal development and mental health awareness.
• Actively participate in training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
• A degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience working in a similar role, preferably within a school setting.
• Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding practices, and mental health issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Proficient in using IT systems and software for record-keeping and reporting.
• A compassionate and resilient approach to supporting students in challenging situations.
• A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality within the school community.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
