Job Description:-
We are seeking a skilled and certified Telecom Field Technician with expertise in internal fibre cabling and telecommunications infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fibre optic systems, including fibre splicing, card, rack installation and network commissioning. The role also requires adherence to health and safety (HSE) standards, particularly when working at heights or in confined spaces, such as rooftops and communication rooms.
Duration of contract - 6 months
Work location: London & Greater London Area UK
Key Responsibilities:
• Fiber Cabling & Splicing: Install and maintain internal fibre cabling systems, utilizing advanced fiber splicing techniques to ensure secure and efficient network connections.
• Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct fibre optic testing using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and light source equipment to ensure network integrity and performance... identifying faults and performing necessary troubleshooting.
• Installation & Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment, including fibre cards, racks, and associated hardware in communication rooms, ensuring systems are properly integrated and functional.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with HSE regulations. This includes the safe use of ladders, working on rooftops, and maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
• Network Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on fibre optic networks, documenting work and completing service reports as required.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the network engineering and project management teams to ensure seamless communication and project completion.
• Driving of Vehicles: Must hold an open vehicle driving licences for the UK
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in fibre cabling and splicing in a telecommunications environment.
• Proficiency in using OTDR, light source, and other fibre testing tools.
• HSE accreditation or equivalent certification for working at heights, ladders, and rooftops.
• Experience with installing and commissioning telecommunication equipment, such as cards and racks in communication rooms.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, fibre networks, and cable management.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Experience in use of laptop computers and tablets
• Essential certifications to qualify for the work:
• Cabling and Splicing - City & Guilds 3667-03 Level 3 in Fibre Optic Installation and Testing
• BT Openreach Accreditation - SA001 Overhead Safety; SA002 Underground Safety
• General Certifications – SWQR, First Aid, RF Safety Awareness, Roof Top Awareness, Asbestos Awareness (Category A), CDM Regulations, Manual Handling Awareness.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: £41,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
