General Manager - Ontario (Dorchester) with possible review remotely in Eastern/Western Canada for the right candidate.

What you will do:
• Directs all aspects and daily operation of the Division to ensure efficiency and profitability
• Plan, develop and organize the UAP Division to achieve safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective objectives
• Select, develop, motivate and recognize a key managerial staff capable of obtaining maximum results, and for providing a continuum of managerial talent for the future
• Responsible for all aspects of human resource management within the Division including hiring, promoting, performance management, coaching and discharging within company policy and regulatory compliance
• Determine the optimum human resource level for all branches within the Division to meet sales requirements and maintain cost effectiveness; to assure the timely acquisition of required skills and disciplines; and to maintain favorable employee relations
• Formulate and recommend an operations budget to Corporate Management and upon approval, monitor deviations and initiate corrective action in order to control costs
• Reviews and analyses progress towards achieving sales forecasts and operational objectives regularly and initiates action as required. Ensures accurate sales forecasts and expected final results
• Analyses capital requirements and provides recommendations regarding capital budget needs
• Plans and develops policy and procedures and ensures adherence
• Budget process and execution for the Division
• Review new technology in operations and provides recommendations
• Negotiates contracts with vendor(s)
• Develops acquisition and expansion strategies
• Ensures all branches effectively promote United Agri Products/Nutrien key products for the Division.
• Complies and enforces all Nutrien and Industry regulatory and EH&S standards
• Keep the General Manager, Regional Operations informed about significant issues and developments that might influence the achievement of overall growth and profit objectives
• Performs other related duties as required

What you will bring:
• Agricultural or Commerce based degree or equivalent experience of 5 years.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of demonstrated successful experience of farm supply marketing. Three (3) years of this experience must have been in a management capacity.
• Experience in identifying new crop input tools, to negotiate and procure to differentiate product offering
• Internal applicants may be considered in lieu of meeting minimum education and/or experience requirements
Required Skills:
• Very high degree of oral and written communication capabilities and good listening skills
• Good persuasive and motivational skills
• Well-rounded knowledge of agricultural products and practices
• Advanced business skills of branch management
• Excellent understanding of financial statements
• Thorough understanding of fertilizer and agricultural chemical usage and practices of both horticultural and broad acre crops
• Required knowledge/understanding of branch operation and equipment
• Computer skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Understanding of the agricultural demands and practices of the division consisting of both eastern and western regions of Canada
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Manage during 'crisis situations' while maintaining professional behavior
• Travel by vehicle required (30%)
• Ability to meet the Nutrien Ag Solutions policy requirement by completing a Criminal background check, Drug/alcohol testing, and Driving Record Abstract
