The Role To help take us on the next stage of our growth journey, we are now looking for a highly commercial and strategic D2C Finance Director, OR CFO, to join our hugely talented team. This pivotal hire will work closely with our CEO to drive expansion from a financial and commercial standpoint, and own and develop our Finance function. We’re looking for someone quite unique.

You’ll have ideally supported inorganic (M&A) growth, and show clear success in facilitating organic international growth in a D2C subscription business, ideally selling both digital and physical products. If you're already a CFO, then you'll have led inorganic growth and integration. You’ll now be ready for a really exciting multi-faceted challenge, as the Number 1 in Finance, in a startup environment.

It goes without saying that we expect you to be passionate about changing the face of science education. Ideally, you’ll be based in the UK but you could also be located in the USA/Europe. You must be willing to work in international time zones, especially the US, and you’ll have significant experience in managing a remote team - and be comfortable to continue doing so.

Summary:

As the VP Finance or Chief Financial Officer at Inquisitive, you will be at the forefront of our financial strategy and management. This critical executive role will oversee all financial aspects, including P&L, budgeting, audits, and compliance, while driving strategic initiatives that align with Inquisitive's mission and values. You will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to support our growth and innovation.

Your leadership will empower the finance team to deliver excellence, ensuring robust financial operations and strategic business partnering across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies that support Inquisitive's growth objectives and market positioning. PManage the overall Profit & Loss (P&L) of the company, providing insights and actions to drive profitability. Oversee the preparation and management of the company's budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals. Conduct monthly group consolidation and management reporting, and analyse unit economics to provide valuable financial insights.

Oversee standalone accounting for each group legal entity, enhance and refine accounting policies and procedures, and manage outsourced accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ideally lead and oversee M&A activities, ensuring strategic fit and successful integration. Prepare and present quarterly updates to the Board, maintain communication with existing and potential investors, and manage investor reporting to foster strong relationships and transparency.

Business Partnering with other senior leaders to provide financial insights and support business decision-making processes. Ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards, and manage group and standalone audits, due diligence, KYC, and tax checks. Lead tax planning and optimization efforts, ensure timely tax submissions and payments across all group legal entities, supervise potential tax audits, and manage R&D tax returns in the UK, including vendor selection and coordination.

Manage cash planning across the group, oversee forex operations, maintain communication with banks to secure better terms and open new accounts, and handle KYC and payment approvals. Lead the finance function effectively in a remote work environment, maintaining high levels of productivity and engagement.
