About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Health Disciplines, the Psychological Associates provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, and consultation as part of interprofessional health care teams.

As the ideal candidate, you have:
• Successful completion of a Master's degree in Psychology
• Registration with the College of Psychology of Ontario for independent practice as a Psychological Associate including the declared competencies to communicate a psychological diagnosis and to treat with psychotherapy
• Five (5) years of recent releated experience, experience working in a hospital setting (preferred)
• Advanced recent experience with psychological assessment and treatment of patients with complex mental health and medical problems
• Proficient experience with psychotherapy (controlled act) with patients with complex mental health and medical problems
• Advanced ability to diagnose learning disabilities, neuropsychological or psychologically-based neurotic, psychotic, or personality disorders
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of relevant Ontario legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, PHIPA, HCCA)
• Demonstrated advanced ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships
• Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Vision, Purpose and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
