Lead DevOps Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. Where possible, we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.

Salary: Circa £80,000

Reporting to: Business Applications Manager

Location: London Docklands. Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working at least four days across a fortnight in the office.

Our DevOps team provides specialist technical expertise to enable the development and operating of our business-critical applications.

As one of our lead DevOps engineers, you’ll be a leading member of a small team of skilled DevOps engineers working across a range of cloud-based technologies, including (but not limited to), Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure and Microsoft SharePoint online.

Key Responsibilities
• Owning... the DevOps lifecycle and strategic roadmap– leveraging benefits from our investments in technology
• Maintaining the high availability of our production and non-production environments
• Communicating with third party suppliers, technology colleagues and the wider business -and deciding when is appropriate to escalate
• Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices – conducting research and tests to implement new techniques which enhance our DevOps lifecycle
• Growing the team’s capability through new working practices, introducing new tools and processes
• Deploying a variety of IT solutions to a range of environments – you’ll be scripting and automating our processes, enhancing our CI CD within an agile workplace
• Ensuring the smooth running of our applications across a range of environments and supporting our development and other technical teams.
• Improving the change pipeline including the full continuous delivery (CD) and continuous integration (CI) processes, ensuring everything is as efficient as possible
• Planning for the future from capacity to stability to continuously improving methods to automate, ensure consistency and improve the up-time of our systems – you’ll be planning a work schedule up to around four months ahead

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to show us that you’ve got the skills and capabilities. You’ll have to meet the following minimum criteria:

Minimum Criteria
• Being a technical SME with experience in a development and operational environment using Microsoft tools
• Having experience building CI and CD using tools such as Azure DevOps, Team City and Octopus
• Working within Agile teams with Scrum and Kanban methodologies
• Working with third party providers to achieve value for money and business benefit
• Being able to effectively deploy and support .NET, Azure based applications
• Having in-depth knowledge of web hosting, load balancing and networking
• Having knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and how to support it
• Experience of Azure and the Power Platform
• Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and issues to a variety of colleagues
