In-house Legal Counsel at NQC

About your new role

As part of our growth journey, we are looking for an experienced legal counsel to join our team in house. The In-house Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice to the business on a variety of topics, with a focus on commercial law. You will help to protect NQC from legal liability and ensure that our company policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

As the In-house Legal Counsel you will be required to undertake the following responsibilities as part of your day to day activities:

  • Draft and review commercial agreements, including contracts, proposals, and other legal documents.
  • Manage the contract process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with commercial law, company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Work closely with internal teams to manage, identify and mitigate commercial and legal risks for the business.
  • Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Represent the business in legal proceedings, as required
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on commercial contract terms, conditions and obligations.
  • Monitor contract performance to ensure that we meet our contractual obligations and identify opportunities to optimise performance.
  • Identify and resolve legal and commercial issues that may arise during the course of a contract.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and update contracts and other legal documents as necessary.
  • Provide ad-hoc legal and admin support and advice to the business as required

Requirements

To be successful for this role you will ideally meet these requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably within a SaaS business.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contract law and practices.
  • Experience with other areas of commercial law, such as corporate law, employment law, and international law
  • Experience of a broad range of commercial services agreements, within the technology sector would be beneficial but not essential
  • University degree in Commercial law, Legal studies or other related qualifications (GDL)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the business and also challenge and influence where necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
