Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Planning Engineer (Change) within our Optioneering, Mitigation & Change (OMC) team.

Purpose of the role:

Assist the Optioneering, Mitigation, Change (OMC) Team in monitoring, assessing, and analysing change to the SCS Working Programme, ensuring compliance with the SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements to provide a fair, efficient, and cost effective assessment.

Role Responsibility
• Assist OMC Team assessing changes to the programme arising from client and non-client driven changes, including CE's, NCE's, PMI's.
• Assist in monitoring changes to the programme arising from Additional Compensation Events, as listed under the contract.
• Assist... in the assessment and analysis of Critical Path Management (CPM).
• Assist in tracking the status of updating changes into the programme.
• Assisting and undertaking change programme assessments.
• Providing assistance, as required, in progress monitoring and updating of the construction programme during Stage Two, including forecasting of potential problem areas and proposing mitigation measures.
• Contribute to assessment of programme risks and programme risk analysis, including development and implementation of mitigation measures.
• Interfacing with other functional teams including, but not limited to: Project Controls, BIM, procurement, design, commercial, estimation, and construction delivery.
• Liaise as required with the client's planning team, stakeholders and with other works packages to communicate and report change programme assessments.
• Pursuing excellence and continuous improvement of the SCS construction planning approach, modification of standard processes and procedures for effective and continuously improvement.
The Ideal Candidate
• HNC / Degree in civil engineering or an appropriate professional qualification
• Prior experience in planning function in civil engineering projects
• Knowledge of the development and implementation of Asset structures, Planning Standards, WBS and Planning processes.
• Working Knowledge of NEC3 Form of Contract
• Competence in Primavera P6
• Strong analytical skills
• Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management
• Effective communication skills

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
