Job Title: English Literature Teacher
Star English is a start-up business incorporated in the UK and dedicated to reading children's books for millions of children worldwide. It is our determination to inculcate good reading habits for millions of teenagers not only in developing countries but also in UK, USA and Australia by providing online lessons with a ration up to1:3.
Currently our students are from China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, USA and Australia. All of them are studying at international schools.
We are providing two types of courses:
1. Reading Comprehension and Writing Course
Students are required to read chapter books or literature texts before each online lesson. During the lessons, teachers will help them understand the plot and characters and to strengthen analytical reading skills. In-class descriptive writing will also be arranged to help the students to plan the writing, write with a high level of accuracy and independence.
Writing in character... homework will be given after each lesson.
The target of this course is to equip the students with analytical reading and writing to help them with be ready for English literature course.
2. English Literature Course
Students are required to read the literature texts before each online lesson. Teachers will help students study texts from an analytical perspective, appreciation of writer’s craft, extract analysis and close reading, thematic study and character analysis, development of critical thinking skills and literacy essays.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with our courses
- Teach English language skills including close reading, writing
- Assess students' English level before enrolment
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback after each lesson
- Assign homework after each lesson and have it marked before the next lesson
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in English Literature is a MUST
- Teaching experiences at secondary schools is a MUST
- PGCE certificate is a MUST
- Differentiating teaching capability is a MUST
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching
