About us
Lewisham Islamic Institute is a faith based supplementary school which delivers Islamic teachings and prophetic principles in a safe learning environment. A professional and committed team working to deliver an ethos centred on positively transforming pupils through the book of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). Our curriculum is broad and balanced and delivered in a comprehensive manner to suit the ranging needs of all its pupils.
The Role
We are looking for a part- time dedicated Admin Assistant/Quran teacher teaches to educate in a thriving and upcoming Islamic institute in the heart of Lewisham. We are looking for a capable Admin Assistant/Teacher who is able to not only complete admin tasks but also teach and build meaningful relationships whilst managing a classroom. We require a admin assistant/cover teacher who intends to nurture students and can be seen as a active role model. Our teaching time runs from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at the Lewisham... Islamic Centre on weekdays and 10:30 am - 12:30 pm on a Saturday, and 5pm - 7pm on a Sunday therefore teachers will be expected to attend in person at the following times:
Wednesday - Friday - 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Saturday - 10am - 1pm
Sunday - 4:30pm - 7:30pm
(TERM TIME ONLY)
• To be able to teach children to learn about Islam and to inspire them to be better Muslims by being a good role model.
• Typing up letters and reports
• To be proficient in Quran reading with tajweed and be able to deliver basic Islamic studies lessons to children.
• Dealing with queries on the phone and by email.
• To follow the lesson plans and curriculum we have established and deliver sessions in a creative and engaging manner.
• To assess students learning to ensure teaching practice and learning is of the highest standard.
• Updating computer records using a database
• To carry out all relevant admnsterial tasks.
• To be able to follow and implement all policies and procedures established by Lewisham Islamic Insitiute.
Requirements
• Have a commitment to developing the next generation of Muslims in the UK.
• Must be DBS cleared to be able to work with children.
• Desirable: QTS or relevant qualification or experience working with children.
• Communicate and interact with children using the English language.
• Experience of working with children in the UK.
• Support children's learning through Knowledge and understanding of how children learn.
• Successful applicants will have shown to be proficient in Quran reading with tajweed and be able to deliver basic Islamic studies lessons to children.
• Please note this role is based on site at the Lewisham and not suitable for online teaching
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Salary: Up to £12.00 per hour
