Job Description
Responsible to identify and develop technical solutions as they relate to supplier quality. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will drive improvements in MTS inbound material and support any needed escalation with respect to supplier quality issues. Working with MTS suppliers, the SQE will ensure that suppliers respect our procedures.
- Defines quality metrics for key processes. Develops the measurement techniques, tracks data, and drives appropriate action based upon resulting performance. Establishes a roadmap for process improvements and leads quality improvement projects. Work with the supplier directly, create corrective action plans to address process failures and lead initiatives with strong project management skills.
- Lead Supplier manufacturing continuous improvement projects by collaborating with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities by partnering with them to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Represent MTS in the support of customer and/or regulatory audits. Drives closure coordination of reported non-conformities and address risk assessment through the supply chain. Provide assurance plans that our customers value and provide them with a sense of confidence in our ability to deliver high quality product on time.
- Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental Risks.
- Represent Quality department on New Product Introduction teams to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards.
- Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
- Conduct supplier validation audits. Drives closure coordination of reported non-conformities. Selectively engages with Key Suppliers to drive quality improvement through qualification and training efforts, including first article requirements and quality scorecard business reviews.
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or similar degree with 5 years of professional experience working in a Quality organization. Supplier Quality preferred.
- Previous Quality leadership role in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong project management skills.
- Passionate about management systems and ability to demonstrate that passion.
- Ability to concurrently organize and lead multiple improvement teams and deliver on assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required for working across multiple-functional organization lines and geographies.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task, as well as being a self-starter.
- Excellent written communication skills, verbal communication skills, and presentation skills to a wide-ranging set of audiences.
- Ability to demonstrate analytical skill set. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
- Experience in using SAP’s Quality Module (inspection plans, quality notifications) and JMP/Minitab preferred.
- Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
- Ability to travel (up to 15%).
