Job Description

Role Summary:

To provide support to the manufacturing floor for repair and upkeep of presses, auxiliary, support equipment Buildings and Grounds. A preventive maintenance program and work order system will be used to facilitate this. The Maintenance Technician will be in a position to contribute to the continuous improvement of operations through his/her input and involvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Maintenance Technician is responsible for all aspects of the Maintenance Department. This includes: 
    • Completion of assigned preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Completion of assigned work orders.  
    • Maintaining inventory stock in an orderly manner.
    • Maintenance of building and grounds as directed.
  • Responsible for the tidiness of the Maintenance area and cleanup of any area work is performed.
  • Responsible for reporting any unsafe or not-normal condition to a supervisor (i.e. equipment not functioning properly).
  • Responsible for adherence to the company quality and environmental policy, procedures, and management systems.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and OH&S standards and all company safety and environmental policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • The Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out any reasonable request by a supervisor.

Experience:

The Maintenance Technician should possess a minimum of a high school diploma or a G.E.D. Successful completion of an entrance test for general knowledge and completion of an approved Journeyman program is also preferred.

Human Relations:

This position works within established guidelines under the general direction of the Production Manager receiving written and oral instructions.

Primary contact for this position will be the Production Manager or assigned Supervisor. The Maintenance Technician is expected to work well with others to promote a team-oriented work environment.

This position functions within a plastic injection molding environment. The Maintenance Technician may at times be exposed to extremes in temperature and noise. The Maintenance Technician must observe safety and security precautions and become familiar with procedures to follow if problems should arise.

Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to safely operate a tow motor/forklift.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, follow work instructions and job training requirements. Individual works in a team environment and must possess good communication/interpretation skills, good visual skills for part inspection, basic mathematical skills, and reasoning ability. Individual must be able to stand for full manufacturing shift, have ability to complete hand assembly process. Ability to reach with arms extended and/or overhead, excellent hand dexterity, ability to bend, stoop, stretch and similar activities and able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
