Salary: £52,293.

This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As Senior Process Engineer (Team Leader), you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivering of high-impact research and development programmes, H3AT is responsible for designing, delivering and operating cutting-edge tritium life cycle facilities. Furthermore, H3AT seeks to develop productive collaborations and grow a community of experts through the sharing and assimilating of knowledge. 
The Innovation Groups within H3AT are research and development teams that pursue fuel cycle development. The focus of the team is on delivering research which supports the realisation of a commercially viable fusion fuel cycle.

Additional Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a process engineer with research experience, capable of line managing a team.
  • Line manage a team of capable process engineers working on various different projects, supporting their development, training, and wellbeing.
  • Lead detailed design of an experiment or small pilot plant in a research environment.
  • Produce Block Flow Diagrams, control philosophies, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and, when required, functional specifications for managing supply chain input.
  • Manage the scope and interface with Electrical, Control and Instrumentation, Mechanical, 3D modelling, Chief Engineers, Safety Group.
  • Scope and support the production of budget, schedule and risk registers in conjunction with a project manager.
  • Support the design, installation, commissioning, and early operation of an experiment.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Chemical or Process Engineering degree, and experience in chemical, process or project engineering environments.
  • Experience producing concept, preliminary, and detailed design documentation, including Block Flow Diagrams, control philosophy, Process Flow Diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Functional Specifications for managing supply chain input.
  • Experience scoping, budgeting, and scheduling complex process plant equipment or experiments.
  • Experience with process hazard studies, for instance HAZIDs and HAZOPs.
  • Experience leading and interfacing with multi-discipline design elements, such as Electrical, Control and Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Safety.

Desirable

  • Experience with high purity gas systems and vacuum systems.
  • Experience managing a project budget.
  • Experience of procurement in support of project work.
