The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Finance Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in providing support to both finance teams (the Management Accounts Team and the Financial Accounts Team), performing a range of tasks at the financial month end and at year end for the Annual Accounts. You will move between the teams, with a combination of on the job learning and a programme of training and development.
The management accounts team act as Business Partners to different business areas on site, and are responsible for preparing budgets and for monthly reporting against budgets and forecasts, as well as providing a wide range of support to their business area.
The financial accounts team are responsible for Treasury and cash management, paying UKAEA’s bills and employee expenses, preparing UKAEA’s tax returns, accounting for UKAEA’s assets (buildings, plant and equipment etc) and producing UKAEA’s Annual Accounts.
You will learn about UKAEA’s finance system and financial processes and gaining hands-on experience (for example inputting journals and timesheet amendments), before moving on to projects of greater depth. As well as, assisting with a range of financial audits, including the audit of the Annual Accounts by the National Audit Office.
