This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Risk and Assurance Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in the Quality, Safety, Health & Environment, Risk and Assurance (QSHERA) directorate at UKAEA, supporting the organisation as a fully integrated 'three lines of assurance' function.  

As an apprentice within QSHERA you will work alongside qualified risk managers to understand the risk and assurance lifecycle, work with qualified assurance specialists to learn about three lines of assurance and its application in the business, and work with quality safety and environment professionals who provide advice and guidance to the organisation in adherence to quality safety and environmental standards. This role will support you in learning about about the role of the Fusion Safety Advisory in the wider Fusion Energy landscape and the work being done to advise on future regulation. 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Complete national academic qualification as defined by the apprenticeship training standard; Business and Administration.
• Attend designated training provider, develop and attain a good knowledge of engineering skills.
• Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

• 5 GCSES A*-C (9-4) including Maths, English and Science
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Able to work flexibly by responding to changes in operational priorities.
