This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As an Electrical Engineering Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in engineering & technical support within RACE at UKAEA.

You will work with UKAEA-RACE engineers in projects to maintain, design, operate and repair electrical systems. You will assist with and perform installation and maintenance tasks to ensure the effective operation of various electrical equipment.  

You will:

• become fully conversant with current engineering and legislative codes of practice. 
• become fully conversant with electrical engineering principles. 
• learn and undertake engineering tasks in accordance with approved drawings and documentation. 
• learn and undertake testing and fault-finding activities associated with electrical circuits and components. 
• learn the safe use of powered and hand tools. 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Complete national academic qualification as defined by the apprenticeship training standard Embedded electronic systems design and development engineer (degree) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
• Attend designated training provider, develop and attain a good knowledge of engineering skills.
• Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

• A-Levels or equivalent (BTEC L3, HND, etc) in relevant discipline e.g. mathematics, physics or engineering.
• Enthusiasm for, and behavioural skills suitable for, working in project teams, in some cases multinational.
• Good communication skills.
• Demonstrate an interest and aptitude for practical work
