This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Building Services Engineer (HVAC), you will play a pivotal role in a specialist field that ensures UKAEA meets its regulatory obligations; under the supervision of experienced engineers they will learn skills which support the delivery of Nuclear HVAC designs and engineering solutions across UKAEA programmes.

The Integrated Engineering Division has an extensive portfolio and track record leading projects for the organisation. These activities include the enhancement and maintenance of world class fusion devices, business research facilities and supporting plant on site as well as providing direct support to external Clients such as ITER.

UKAEA’s two-year graduate scheme is split by 80% of your time developing both your general work-related skills and professional qualifications and 20% of your working time dedicated to graduate training and development.  Within the 20% training and development, there is a core suite of activities designed to develop your professional and business skills. Elements of this programme are flexible and can be tailored to your personal development needs and to those of your specific job role. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of compliant, safe, reliable, and robust HVAC plant and systems in support of UKAEA projects and programmes.
  • Assist in the production of designs for the repair, refurbishment, enhancement, or replacement of  HVAC systems, including written specifications, design drawings and schematics, and Operation and Maintenance documents.
  • Participate in design reviews with stakeholders across UKAEA programmes, maintaining accurate records of decisions and actions.
  • Assist with the management of external contractors delivering work on UKAEA systems, including assessment of H&S documentation, quality control, and acceptance.
  • Assist in the preparation of formal engineering procedures, standards and instructions for assembly, installation, commissioning, and maintenance tasks. Contribute to the continuous improvement of activities within scope and specialism. 

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • A Building Services Engineering Degree
  • Must demonstrate a sound theoretical understanding of design and specification of HVAC systems to meet functional, statutory, and client requirements in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

To be considered you will need to have successfully completed your degree within the past 2 years at a UK university, and will possess a relevant degree from within the specialisms listed.

You will need to be self motivated, demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and have an interest in the development of a cleaner energy. Additionally, you will be passionate about self-development and you should have a proactive approach to your work with an enthusiasm to achieving your full potential.
