This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in engineering & technical support within RACE at UKAEA.

You will learn how to design, manufacture, install and maintain mechanical and electrical services, components, assemblies and equipment in accordance with current engineering and legislative codes of practice.

At the end of the apprenticeship you will have become fully conversant with current engineering and legislative codes of practice, and engineering principles.

This role is a 5 year apprenticeship programme with a nationally recognised apprenticeship standard: Product design and development engineer (degree) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Complete national academic qualification as defined by the apprenticeship training standard.
  • Attend designated training provider, develop and attain a good knowledge of engineering skills.
  • Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • A-Levels or equivalent in relevant discipline e.g. mathematics, physics or engineering.
  • Enthusiasm for, and behavioural skills suitable for, working in project teams, in some cases multinational.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an interest and aptitude for practical work
