The Role
The Office of the Chief Engineer(OCE) provides technical governance for the full lifecycle of all UKAEA’s engineering activities, providing the Engineering Authority is important to realising effective, safe technical outcomes. This role is based within the Safety Case Engineering Group under the Engineering Authority strand of the OCE. The Safety Case Engineering Group is responsible for the production of all of UKAEA’s safety cases and is pivotal in the assessment of high hazard operations with both a radiological and non-radiological hazards.
Join our team and contribute to the advancement of fusion energy. As the Principal Safety Case Engineer, your responsibilities will include developing, offering and improving assessing modifications to safety cases across a number of facilities for both radiological and non-radiological hazards. Additionally, you will advise on strategies for the development of safety cases for both new and existing facilities, ensuring their fit for purpose and timely submission in alignment with UKAEA’s program, while also ensuring regulatory compliance.
In this position, you will take proactive steps to influence, communicate, transfer knowledge, and coach the desired safety culture for UKAEA Safety Cases. You will also champion the integration of safety cases with technical changes, as well as benchmark and expand the Authority to stay abreast of emerging industry trends.
