Company Overview:

Join our dynamic on-site team and contribute to the success of one of the world's leading logistics companies. We are seeking an experienced Site Technician / Electrician to play a crucial role in our DHL Heathrow Maintenance Support Team at Heathrow Airport. As a team member, you'll be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the optimal performance of our cutting-edge systems.

Key Responsibilities:

 As a Site Technician/Multi-skilled engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing electrical and mechanical tasks, including different types of conveyors, motors, bearings, gearboxes and belts, in planned and reactive environments.
  • Identifying problematic faults, rectifying issues, and monitoring system performance continuously.
  • Conducting systems analysis on various systems, including S7 PLC, Profibus and communication networks.
  • Collaborating with the maintenance team to complete PPM schedules within agreed timescales.
  • Executing mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance tasks in a busy automated logistics hub.
  • Providing support for project and facility management work.
  • Articulating detailed reports and supporting existing on-site colleagues.
  • Monitoring and implementing continuous improvement measures in response to customer requests.
  • Collaborating within a team and being comfortable working independently. Ensuring customer operational continuity by preventing equipment failures.
  • Be able to fault find electrically and read electrical drawings
  • Adherence to H&S & knowledge of LOTO

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Mechanical Engineering with exceptional electrical skills will also be considered
  • Proven experience in a similar position, preferably within sortation and distribution or a fast-moving production, Process, manufacturing or FMCG environment with a minimum of 5 year work experience or must have the necessary work experience to apply
  • Excellent communication skills both, spoken and written
  • Proficient in IT, especially with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of Emergency Stop and Safety Supervision Systems.
  • Able to work at height
  • Driving license would be desirable 
  • Able to provide a 5 year clear reference or work history (Airside Pass)
  • An immediate start would be beneficial

Other desirable skills

  • Knowledge of AC & DC Drives
  • Knowledge of Profibus and ASi-bus
  • Knowledge of SCADA would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of conducting sorter Health Checks would be advantageous
  • Experience with pneumatics would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and use of radio communication

Additional Information:

  • Working a popular 12-hour shift pattern (4 on and 4 off - days and nights).
  • Covering a 24 hours/7 day operation, including bank holidays.
