Vehicle Body Builder Apprentice

Location: Scarborough

Your dream role:

Step into the driver's seat of your career with our exciting apprenticeship opportunity in bus building! As an apprentice, you'll be at the forefront of crafting the vehicles that keep communities moving. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, you'll learn the ins and outs of bus construction, from assembling components to ensuring safety and quality standards are met. If you're eager to learn, hands-on, and ready to make a tangible impact in the transportation industry, we want you on our team!

Main responsibilities:

  • To learn how to identify the manufacturing requirements for task by assessing the Build & Quality requirements from any available sources e.g. works instructions/specifications, engineering drawings, etc. 
  • To learn how to select appropriate tools, equipment, materials, and fixings as required for work task.
  • To ensure all tools & equipment selected are inspected prior to use. 
  • To learn how to operate tools, equipment & machinery in a safe & competent manner and to comply with any safety regulations.
  • To learn how to fit & assemble a variety of components to different types of vehicle bodies & in a variety of situations.
  • To work in a safe manner, using appropriate PPE as necessary.
  • To ensure the work environment is maintained in a safe & tidy manner & to sweep work area daily.
  • To report any injuries or near misses as soon as possible.
  • To achieve required Quality standards.
  • To report any material/components faults, breakages, or supply issues.
  • To complete job cards and college work tasks as required.
  • To follow all instructions and reasonable requests from work mentors and college tutors.
  • Any other duties as required.

 What you will bring:

  • Able to receive instructions on how to work in a safe manner recognising potential risk to oneself and one’s work colleagues.
  • Able to work on your own but also as part of a team.
  • To learn how to use a range of hand & power tools to undertake designated work task efficiently.
